Stroke Play Championship /MGA Pro-Am Team Qualifier

For the last few years, Windyke has not had a stroke play event for the individual. You have asked, and we have delivered. The Windyke Stroke Play Championship will consist of 2 divisions listed below.

Division 1:  The championship flight will be a gross score only championship. To be entered into this flight, players must have a 5.9 index or below and then must choose to play in the championship flight.  All players in the championship flight will play Black Tees.   This flight will also decide the 2 amateurs that will represent Windyke along with the 2009 Club Champion Ben Fisher and one of the golf professionals here at Windyke to compete against some of the toughest competition in the city in the local MGA Team Championship which will be held in April. The date and course are still to be announced.  Sign up today to help us find the best team possible to bring the trophy back to Windyke.

Division 2:      All other flights other than Championship flight.  These flights will play for gross and net prizes, so any skill level can compete equally. The tee box assignments are the following: 59 and under will play gold tees, 60-74 will play white tees and those 75+ will play red tees.

The price will be $60 including cart and range balls.   This event will earn points toward the season-long Windyke Cup.  Tee times will start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 3 on the East Course.  Call the pro shop at (901) 755-3160 or e-mail us at bratiff@windyke.com to sign up.

Triple Format

April 24
West Course
8:30 a.m. Shotgun
7:00 a.m. Breakfast
If you have never played in a Triple Format event, you owe to yourself to check this one out. The way a Triple Format works is the first six holes is a best ball, the second six is a scramble and the last six is an alternate shot. This year’s event will be a two-person, one-day competition with breakfast before play. This is one of those formats that players talk about and tell stories for years to come.  So, if you are looking to kick start your golf tournament season with a fun event, then this one is for you!

Guidelines are as follows:
•    Two Person Teams
•    Make Your Own Team or sign up as an individual, and we will pair you.
•    This event is open to all classifications of members, and each team may have 1 guest
•    Each team’s handicap is based on the following formula using a players USGA index:
Sum of the two players index, minus ½ of the difference.
Example: Greg Hynes                4.0
                    Russ Garner                1.5
                                                             5.5 – 1.25 =4.25
We will then use the team’s index to flight the teams before play. Once your team’s handicap has been used for flighting purposes, it will not be used again.

•    If you do not have a full team, we can help you find additional players.
•    Windyke Cup points event!
•    Entry fee is $90 including cart and is payable by member charge, cash or check (includes prizes, cart and breakfast).
•    All players canceling after April 22 at 5 p.m. will be charged for the entry fee.
•    Tee Assignments:         Seniors 75+         Red tees
